the history
Ozymandias was born in a laboratory. He was immediately aged to about six years of age to make him useful to his creators, and then released from the faux uterus he was grown in. Code-named "PROJECT OZ" he was eventually called "Ozymandias" by one of the lead scientists (understandably she had a soft spot for the Shelley poem of the same name) and the name caught on among the staff. He underwent a rigorous training simulation for the next year, sleeping only five hours a night and spending the remainder of his days learning to speak, to read, to play-act, to shoot. These all came naturally to Oz, and he remembers his "childhood" with affection. He doesn't seem to think the cruel methods were cruel at all, but only because he had never known anything else.
He was allowed to leave the lab only very rarely in the first year and always with a chaperone. The facility had been built underground in a rural piece of Iowa so there were no close-by citizens or businesses; for the most part they were surrounded by corn fields regulated by machines and the occasional farmer. After his first year of "school" he was sent on assassination assignments across the world, and given strict guidelines on what to do. The facility wanted Ozymandias to be seen by Sector 9 so they would know someone was moving against them, and it works incredibly well. The rumor of a child assassin becomes infamous among the intelligence world.
Ozymandias is allowed his veritable freedom for another year before he is returned to the machines he was grown in. He is artificially aged to eighteen then, and over the next seven months stays in the laboratory to prepare for his next assignment. He is placed in Chicago, IL in a recently vacated apartment in the same complex Blaire and Ashley live in and is told to monitor and maybe even befriend the agents. He is not to imply that he knows them at all, although Oz is aware that the two are technically his parents. (He feels no emotional attachment to them, however, and sees them more as marks than his fathers.)
While he works on this assignment he receives further assassination contracts from the laboratory and travels across the world to fulfill these. Oz feels no way about killing people, as he sees it as homework and not anything morally bad. He is often in and out of his apartment, and has been given a timeline of about eight months to get the information he needs from Ashley and Blaire. The facility's end game is for Ozymandias to acquire their DNA-locked FBI laptops and access their private Sector 9 files, which, thanks to Oz being the biological son of the two, he could theoretically do. Unfortunately he has to get to the laptops, and Ashley and Blaire are not all that trusting of the strange kid who moved in next door.

languages - It was important to the technicians who grew him that Ozymandias be capable of subterfuge in a number of countries so he was taught/implanted with a copious amount of languages. English is his first language but only by a few months; he is also fluent in Arabic, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, German, Spanish and French. He has an ear for language and is likely to pick up more as he ages.
home - As a child and into adolescence Ozymandias lives in an underground laboratory in rural Iowa. All together he only spends a couple of years here, as he is artificially aged to six years of age and then again two years later to eighteen. He has only been 'awake' and eighteen for seven months before he is placed in Chicago, IL to monitor Blaire and Ashley. He lives in their apartment complex on the floor beneath them, in a flat the technicians carefully decorated. Oz has no feel for the place and doesn't much care about the furniture in it, though he was told it was only to make him seem convincingly normal. His flat is tastefully decorated with streamlined furniture and a great deal of light, pale colors, such as seen in the photo to the right. There are splashes of bright colors mixed in as is currently fashionable in interior design. His flat is only two bedrooms, one for sleeping in and the other that functions as a sort of office. In reality the secondary room is Oz's data point to communicate with the lab who grew him, and one must provide the correct DNA sequence to access the communication hub. Without that the room remains a normal office. With Oz's DNA provided the desk opens up into a video monitor that is a direct line to the lab and this allows him to send and receive documents. His bedroom was also decorated by the organization who conceived him and was referenced off a number of teenage bedrooms seen on television. Unsurprisingly it contains a great number of references to movies and tv shows Oz has never seen and a guitar despite his inability to play. He keeps Lucille in his bedroom on a small nightstand to the right of his bed. He likes rolling over to see her. |
pets - Oz was allowed to ask for one thing for his apartment and immediately requested a pet. He did not ask for a dog or a cat or anything really 'normal'; rather he wanted a Honduran Curly Hair tarantula, a species he saw once on a mission when he was about six and a half. As best he can figure he's got a female, a couple years old now, hand-tame and to him very friendly. He calls her Lucille.

the heart
personality - peculiar || tranquil || deliberate || shameless
Thanks to being artificially aged through adolescence Ozymandias has only been "alive" for two years and seven months by the time he turns eighteen. His mental development was understandably stunted due to this; he missed some important lessons in childhood and still struggles relating to people now. He is somewhat simple-minded and although he has a vast intelligence he lacks some in normal social conduct. Manners do not come quickly to him; he understands "yes sir" and "no ma'am" thanks to being raised in a laboratory run by elitist scientists but anything further and he is doing pure guesswork. He doesn't understand the natural flow of a conversation and often comes across as odd and stilted. He speaks very eloquently and uses excellent vocabulary but metaphors go over the top of his head. He only understands simple jokes though he has a soft spot for puns. He never knows what are inappropriate questions to ask so he asks all of them, even if they are completely inappropriate. He comes off as rather shameless thanks to this.
He always says what he means and never stutters or says something accidentally. Oz is rather calm all the time; he doesn't have much of a temper as it was kind of beaten out of him as a child, although he does sometimes get very, painfully lonely. Lucille helps with this and also the reassuring weight of a gun in his hand; he feels comfortable only when he is armed. He doesn't have much of a grasp on a lot of social conventions, including flirting and even befriending people. He struggles with reading body language outside of a battle; he can accurately predict how someone is going to hit him next but he cannot tell if someone is being friendly or seeking to manipulate him. Oz is very physical and incredibly affectionate with his hands and touches. Sometimes this can confuse others because they mistake his behavior for flirting, which is not his intention. He often touches people without invitation because he doesn't think he needs to be told it's okay.

the looks
As Ozymandias matures his build becomes a perfect balance between that of his fathers. He develops Ashley's long limbs and torso and the illusion of height, despite his somewhat diminutive stature, as Oz tops out at 5'5" at best. From Blaire he keeps the perpetual baby-face, the wide eyes, the dark eyelashes. He inherits Blaire's mouth and the quirks that come along with it and, like Blaire, is often frowning although for Oz is it more often because he is confused than annoyed. He has Ashley's small quick hands and Blaire's nimble fingers and very narrow feet, and his sense of balance is so refined that he uses all of these delicate features to his advantage. Oz was trained in gymnastics and the muscle memory lingers with him into adulthood; he often leans onto his toes when he is thinking hard or bored, and stays like that, tip-toed, for up to an hour. He says it helps him think.
The laboratory never let him grow his hair long but since 'moving out' he's been letting it grow out. It's beginning to turn curly, particularly at the base and the nape of his neck. Right now it barely tickles his shoulders. His hair is a fine plum color, same as the color of his head in his feral form. It's thin and rather fragile so he is constantly shedding. More often than not Oz lets his hair do whatever it likes, and doesn't bother with styling it; however since it's grown out a bit he now has enough to pull it into a quick bun or ponytail, and he does that when it becomes a nuisance. When he's on a job he always buns it and pins it to the back of his head so it doesn't get in his eyes, a costly mistake in the field. He doesn't particularly like people touching his hair.
Ozymandias is at the pinnacle of human development so he is built rather solidly and has some muscle mass. He works out still only because the laboratory told him to; if he did not have them hanging over his shoulder probably Oz would stop being so active and become something of a chub. (Honestly, he kind of yearns for this. He's not active by default and likes curling up with a good book more than he likes sweating.) He's pretty much always wearing sunglasses because his eyesight was enhanced by the lab and a side effect is that they are very sensitive to light. He wears the clothes given to him, which are currently channeling "hipster teenager". Oz has no particular opinion on the clothes, although he does like it when they give him shorts because he enjoys being cold.
Ozymandias' face claim is Harry Shum Jr.

the facts
➣ Oz touches people a lot. He's always taking people's hands or touching their shoulders or arms. He has yet to learn to wait for an invitation to touch someone's hair and this sometimes causes him problems
➣ has a very high pain tolerance, almost dangerously so (he often overlooks or ignores smaller wounds)
➣ he absolutely adores spiders and has wanted a tarantula of his own since he first saw one on his third mission. When the lab approved Lucille he immediately started working with handling her and he often has her out somewhere when he's home
➣ tends to laugh quietly or under his breath, as he was taught not to make a great deal of noise (when he speaks he is often rather quiet as well, to the point that some people have difficulty hearing him)
➣ has zero interest in fashion or clothes and wears only what is given to him by the laboratory
➣ winter is his favorite season. He loves the bite of the cold and doesn't respond well to heat. It tends to make him tired. In the summer he isn't half as active
➣ doesn't really understand the concept of a family, due to how he was raised. He knows logically that Ashley and Blaire are his fathers but he does not see either of them as "dad"
➣ has exquisite eyesight but rather sensitive eyes due to this enhancement. He wears sunglasses a lot to combat the sensitivity
➣ has a soft spot for classical music, but only when played quietly (he absolutely hates loud music, no matter the genre)
